It’s been getting warmer recently and really starting to feel like summer! Especially after the Memorial Day long weekend. The COVID-19 quarantine restrictions have slowly started lifting, allowing people access to beaches and hiking trails, but we’re still staying cautious and keeping our distance for now.

Thus, we stayed at home for Memorial Day Weekend. Instead, I put on a big sun hat and we played outside. The hat instantly made me feel like I was on vacation, even though I was a few feet from my front door.

As I’ve gotten older and wiser, I’ve realized how important sun protection is, especially for your face and anti-aging. When I’m out on a walk with Mina, I always make sure to apply SPF 50+ and wear a hat. If it’s not too hot, I also cover up my arms and decolletage. I realized my standard Nike hats weren’t cutting it – half of my face was exposed to the sun – and started to research large brim hats with UPF 50. I landed on Coolibar hats and sun protective gear. They make high quality items that get the job done and are stylish, too.
For Mina, I love the iPlay sun hats from Green Sprouts. We have 3 different styles – see images below. They’re really light weight, easy to put on, and they stay on. They have a cinchable elastic band, making it easy to adjust as baby grows. The added chin ties keeps the hat secure if the wind blows. I highly recommend them!
I also got her a UPF 50+ blanket from Sunsnapz. I prefer this blanket to others because it has snaps along the edge so you can conveniently secure to your stroller or around your neck while nursing. It’s chemical free and made in the USA, which is an added bonus. We use it to cover her stroller, in the car to cover the window if the sun is hitting hard, and while nursing. The snaps are also convenient for when you want to cover a toddler running around in the sun.

For baby and toddler swimwear, I love Janie and Jack and RuffleButts. Both brands are high quality, UPF 50+, and super cute!
